I adored curling up on the sofa with Kiley Dunbar’s cosy Christmas escape the other day, as the rain (if not the snow) fell all around.
A great friendship forms the backdrop of a literal Christmas escape from the UK to the far north, TWO great romances, for both main character Sylvie and her best friend Nari, AND the beautiful Lapland scenery (never mind the husky pups – and I’m a cat person usually!) guaranteed all the uplifting feels we all deserve, never more so than at this time of year.
Sylvie is reeling from a break up and trying to get a refund on her beach honeymoon. Best friend Nari intercepts to organise for them, via travel perks from her job, to head to Lapland. Instead of seeing Santa, though, Sylvie catches up with her university ex, the dreamy Finn Stellan.
I’ve been lucky enough to travel to Saariselka (though did not sleep in one of those gorgeous domes where you could potentially see the northern lights) and Kiley’s description of it just made me want to pack my suitcase and head back (booking into one of those gorgeous domes).
I’ll chance that I’ll be re-reading this story in the summer, too.
I thoroughly enjoyed this travel Christmas read, making me nostalgic and cosy at the same time.
